Spiritual “Diet” – Colossians 2:19 May 24, 2013 – Posted in: Challenge

The opening line to the daily prayer is:

“My dear Lord Jesus, I come to you now to be restored in you, to renew my place in you, my allegiance to you, and to receive from you all the grace and mercy I so desperately need this day.”

Now this is a very powerful prayer and very essential to starting your day.  We live in a broken world surrounded by sin and we are sinful by nature.  It’s very important to start off your day asking to be restored in the Lord.  To be renewed in the Spirit. This verse was highlighted as coming from Colossians 2:19, which is:

“and they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For he holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.”

Again this verse states that we have lost connection with our Savior and it must be restored as He is our life and our means to know the Father.

“Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.” John 14:11

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6

It’s also very interesting that the body also stands for the Church and the Church is any believer.

Nourished means to provide food or other substances necessary for life and growth.

So to sum up Colossians 2:19, the only way to grow and survive is to have a strong connection with Christ.
***Very Important Note:

This opening line in the daily prayer should actually be used through out the day.  We all constantly lose connection with our Lord.  Say for instance at work, school, driving, shopping…When you start to not feel love anymore, it’s usually a good sign you have lost that connection with Christ and you should go somewhere quiet and alone and just pray to be restored.

We would love to hear what you got from this verse and how this opening line of the daily prayer affects you.
