Peace at all times January 14, 2015 – Posted in: Peace

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way.  The Lord be with you all.”  2 Thessalonians 3:16

I was given this verse by my Meme when I was going through a time of anxiety and fear of health issues.  When you’re in the storm sometimes it’s very hard to come and find peace.  It does take a lot of prayer and surrendering to our Father to receive His peace.  Unfortunately for my story I still fell under the threat of fear and anxiety, and I am praying for forgiveness for not completely surrendering; for not having what Jesus calls “faith as small as a mustard seed” (Matthew 17:20).  My faith is still growing, but what is amazing about this verse is what comes before it.  2 Thessalonians 3:6-14 talks about the warning against idleness. I realize that with all that I do, all my “busy work”, I don’t actually spend that much work in my relationship with the Lord.  I’m always running around working, doing other tasks, watching tv, playing video games, but not working on my relationship as much as I should.  To me I see a lot of idle time, mostly the watching tv, but sometimes work itself can be considered idle time.

What if during my work day I take 5 minutes to just separate myself and pray.  Pray for someone that needs prayer, pray to just have a conversation with my Father in Heaven.  What would that look like?  So, I thank my Meme who sent me this verse, not for just this verse, but for the whole chapter which has spoken to my heart.   I am always working on my relationship with my Father in Heaven.

We are all in a society that runs and runs and runs, but we are also very idle in ways that may not look like it.  Where do you see yourself being idle?
