Living Sacrifice February 18, 2015 – Posted in: Surrender – Tags: broken, sacrifice
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1
I’ve recently been going through a book called, “True Spirituality Becoming a Romans 12 Christian” by Chip Ingram. In one of his sessions he relates being “All In” to a Texas Hold’em game; taking all your chips and pushing them to the center. Following Christ is the same way… We must surrender all we have (our family, future, money…) to fully receive Christ and all He has to offer. This doesn’t mean give up everything and live on the streets. It means to put all your belief in Him. Surrender our will and ask Him what His will for us that day or with whatever we are going through. It’s what faith is all about… Jumping in completely, relying on something you can’t physically see to be there for you.
I love this verse because of the following statement, “offer your bodies as a LIVING SACRIFICE…”. Our world is broken and our broken/dead selves constantly try to ruin things. It’s a daily, continual task of ours to begin our day surrendered, dying to ourselves, and letting Jesus restore and renew us in his Holy Spirit. This living sacrifice must be offered up daily!
Father, we pray for a surrendered heart and surrendered will. We ask that Your Will be done here, Lord. Rein and rule over us. We pray that you send your Holy Spirit down and that Your Spirit restore us, renew us, and refresh us. We love you, Lord, with all our hearts.
